Back patch, what do ya think?
« on: February 11, 2008, 06:36:34 PM »

Hi everyone,

Here is the design Vinny made for a new back patch. It would be about $30 a piece. What do you all think? Any interest?
Let us know.

Thanks,

I think it is a really great design. I wish I had the $30.00

Do you have any decals like that available? A couple different sizes of this as a decal may be more suitable for those who don't wear standard jackets or vests.

i wouldn't be able to wear it, but I will still show my support by buying one. 2 years ago when it happened, I found this site and it was very helpful to me physically and mentally.

If the design wasn't sent back approved yet, would there be a way to distinguish gender between the 2 riders? Also changing the yellow to blue so it stands out. Regardless I'll buy one. Decals or smaller patches mentioned a few years back would work well too.

Not bad as a first candidate.

Are there some other designs also?

I am not too keen on "The Undaunted"

Any ideas for another byline?

I like the name undaunted, but unfortunately seems to be taken.

Also even though the patch itself is technically a one patch, I can see it getting mistaken with a 3 piece patch.

Well everybody is a critic and I'm no different than the rest.  For reasons that I can't quite put my finger on, I do not like the bike graphic in the picture.  Perhaps it greatly resembles the graphic used by the local anti-helmet guys and the drink and ride crowd I have given up arguing with.

The bike is too obviously a stylized chopper.  A more generic looking bike would more fairly represent the membership as a whole.  Then again, a patch without a bike pictured, similar to the AMA logo or the Triumph and Motoguzzi patches would seem a better choice.

Your back patch sugestion has opened up a great forum topic.  I don't feel that it is like a can of worms, rather an opportunity to voice an opinion on what I choose to wear.   If you could open up a design area for people to contribute their origional design for a certain amount of time, let's say 1-2 + months and then follow it by a voting period that is pre announced  at the start of the contest (maybe 2-4 wheeks).  Let the chips fall where they may and you would have an open membership vote for their favorite.

What's that crude joke? Something about opinions and a certain part of the anatomy and every body having one.......

Here is mine; I'm kinda in Don's camp. The bike/rider graphic just does not do it for me and I too think it could be more generic. How about adding a front wheel and and fork leg to the universal sign of disablity, the stick figure wheel chair? And use the universally recognized blue/white colors.

Well there it is.

I like this idea.  We all have our opinions and thoughts, so draw them up and post em!   :)  As with any seal or symbol, include the explanation and meaning of each piece of the seal.

Any update on the back patch? I would also like to see a smaller version that would fit on a vest front or sleeve.

Vinny had the back patches made and they are in. Although he left the design the same he changed the coloring and I think it dies stand out more. I will get a pic of it on here asap and y'all can let me know who wants one. For you newer members we also do have smaller patch in close to the same design available. I know ther is pic of it somewhere on this forum. I think perhaps it can be found under the topic heading "Membership Info".

Pricing on the patches is as follows:

For dues paying members the big patch is $25, $30 for non dues paying members. The smaller patch is free to dues paying members and $5 each for non dues paying members.

Thank you all for your suggestions and help.
